**IMPORTANT** Serious and major updates regarding BluCoders' future!
Right, sorry about the title but I have no idea how else I can put across how important this blog post actually is.
Now then a select few of BluCoders' most trusted users came together for a meeting. The object of the meeting was to ascertain what we should do about the future for Blu. Some of you may think that it was slightly under-handed of us to have our own private meeting, but it needed to be done due to some of the material, we have been discussing, being quite sensitive.
The agenda for the meeting was as follows:
- Xhrono and SoulGamers Situation
- Leaf owners gets locOPS
- Blu and Gamma are the only IRC links.
- Proposed staffers
- Forum ditched
- Site maintenance to be prioritised
- Revival of Blu
Moving on to what has been agreed amongst the people involved in the conversation, and anyone crying out that it was an unfair meeting we even had my current partner (lozzles) in the meeting as well to oversee what was said.
Xhrono and SoulGamers
We have decided that a split from SoulGamers is in our best interests. SoulGamers is exactly as the name implies, it's about games/gaming. As such it's not exactly relative to BluCoders and it's aim of the coding community, but that aim might be slightly widened but that is something that will be mentioned later in this post. All in all, Xhr0no is no longer an IRC Operator for BluCoders and SoulGamers will no longer be linked to BluCoders.
Leaf owners and LocOPs
This is topic was with regards to the fact that all leaf owners have Global Operator for BluCoders. We want to change this so that leaf owners only have Local Operator, thus restricting them to having full access only on their server. Also this'll help with the BluCoders' hierarchy, which will be explained later in this post.
Gamma is the only leaf
This was regarding the topic that BluCoders has more leafs that it actually needs. As such we decided to cut back on the amount we have and decided that only Gamma is actually needed. This will mean that only hawken will have Local Operator access.
Proposed Staffing
This was the hardest topic to discuss due to it's inherit controversy. As such we had Samuel-Sama assist in choosing staff members whom we could trust. He chose the following people:
- BluABK
- TXX
- Exodus
- Heretic121
- Samuel-Sama(Chosen by us.)
Due to the fact that Samuel-Sama has helped us hold our meetings, by making sure we don't go too off-topic. As such we've also added him to the list. Now on to explaining what all this means.
The BluCoders' hierarchy is as follows:
-Normal Users
-Local Ops
-Global Ops (Staff)
Normal Users have a standard rights on the server and regarding it.
Local Ops have more say in changes to the server, as the changes may affect them as well.
Global Ops (i.e the staff) are the decision makers and effectively speaking, what we say goes.
Now, people who feel that they should also be part of the Global Ops, staff, can apply to have it. Also as the server grows there will be more call for Local/Global Ops, so it's in your interest to encourage as many people as possibly to come on the server.
Forum ditched
Right as most of you are aware the forum has never been our vocal point for anything. Anything we have posted there is normally because we've either been forced to or because there isn't anywhere else to put it. As such the decision has been made to remove the forum.
Site maintenance - Priority
We've decided that one of the things that needs starting right away is the overdue maintenance on the website for BluCoders. Details about what is to be done and when it's to be done has yet to be discussed.
Revival of BluCoders
BluCoders is in need of a revival. I think we can all agree that BluCoders has never really gone anywhere, and that's what we're trying to change. We have decided to widened our aim for BluCoders. So now instead of focusing solely on coding, projects, competitions, etc. We've decided it'd be better to go for something more general. As such BluCoders has now become a tech-related community, for discussions regarding pretty much anything related to technology.
I believe I have covered everything in this post, and apologises if I have missed anything out.
I hope you can all bear with us while we sort everything out for the better of BluCoders.

OK , I found out all this after it was said and done and had lost my o-line. For those of you who don't know me or know me only as the American nutcase on Blu here is some background, I'll keep it short because I'm too lazy to write a large amount of stuff. the current inspircd was setup by me and Xhr0no and I did a large amount of the configs and moving the staff over from unreal and getting things running and basic maintenance on the ircd. Thats it. onto changes!.
There is a need for people like me on staff, not only because I'm on when others aren't (timezone/insanity). When the server breaks or when new functionality should be added, I am one of the main guys involved. At the moment myself,hawken,and X are the only ones with a decent amount of familiarity with inspircd and its configuration. I also have time to spend (read no life) working on improving the way the irc server operates be it new module ideas for fun and profit or more secure ways to handle things..I'm usually involved along with the others.
To do those tasks we need power...not the GOD like power of the owners and admins, but enough to do a rehash or modload, and sometimes troll control, and we need these globally esp. for config changes and autoloading modules, if the servers are out of sync config wise it causes netshits(netsplits) and pisses people off.
I propose the creation of tiers of O-lines, all tiers will be able to access #staff for important discussions and so on, but not all of them have access to all commands. For example for maintenance, all I need is to load and unload modules and rehash servers I also need to be able to access the servers to change the configs,but I digress, I also would need(like) to be able to run k/g lines so I can do troll control . I DO NOT need to restart/kill servers or have sa commands or be able to use an override for standard operation.
The different tiers of opers is up for discussion, I am merely suggesting the idea. I also have the support of Heretic121 and ABK.
